A survey by the not-for-profit National Sleep Foundation has found that texting on a cell phone or watching TV in the hour before bedtime may be affecting Americans' sleep patterns. Exposure to such light between dusk and bedtime suppressess release of the sleep-promoting hormone melatonin, said Dr. Charles Czeisler, a member of the foundation's 2011 Sleep Task Force (as reported by Delthia Ricks in Newsday on March 7, 2011).For a good night's sleep, try reading before you turn off the light tonight!
