Consumer Information Especially for Seniors

The New York Department of State Division of Consumer Protection, AARP, Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Center for Elder Abuse and the Free Community Papers of New York have launched two major consumer initiatives:
  • The Senior Consumer Information Hotline: a 24 hour toll-free recording providing timely consumer information
  • The Informed Consumer:  a consumer advice column published in the free community papers across the state.
The Senior Consumer Information Line can be accessed by calling (800) 503-9000.  At the end of each recording on issues of relevance in communities, seniors will be provided with the number to the Division of Consumer Protection's Consumer Assistance Hotline, which they may call for additional assistance or to file a consumer complaint.
